Hi Everyone,

Our dear friends are got married last month and I made this as a wedding gift for them. They move around a lot and are nature lovers as well,  a bird house seemed just the right thing. Simply said, Home is were you make it.

I cut out the spool from Sew Crafty SVG Kit and assembled the sides first. Before I did that I used Versa Mark and my wood grain background stamp from Hero Arts to make a wood grain on all the pieces. Then I glued them together. Punch a 1inch circle for  the hole in the top piece first. I used my 3/8 inch punch to make the hole for the perch.  Use a pencil to draw a lines where the top holes fit over the bottom.  Punch the your holes in the bottom piece and use a wood skewer for the perch or a toothpick will work just as well.  Cutting Size for the spool pieces are W 7.980 x 6.206 H bottom, W 8.375 x 6.064 H top. Note: do not put your perch in yet.

Use the stand from the dress form to make the stand for your birdhouse. The stand is cut at the size it imports. Once again I used one of the cardboard inserts from the glow bracelets and necklaces to made the stand sturdy. The bottom of the stand has an slightly smaller octagon cut out of chipboard with a hole in the center for my finger to hold it into place as I glued the flaps on the bottom of it. Debs Crafty side has the whole instructions to this so go check it out on her blog.  I used chipboard instead so it could be cut with my machine. Glue decorative rocks from the dollar tree around the center hole to weight  the birdhouse down. Once you have the bottom assembled then you can take the pole  and insert it into the stand. I put the pole in first and then added hot glue down the center of the tube. I have had to many times when I added the glue and then put it into the stand and it wouldn't go all the way down to the bottom of the stand before it stuck. This makes your pole lean. Use the flaps on the top of your pole to insert into the bottom of the spool. Glue the flaps into place on the inside bottom.
Put the top of the spool on and line up your holes. Take your wooden skewer and glue it into place. I cut mine off afterward as I knew the stick would be small and difficult to work with. I wrapped twine around the spool and glued the end piece at the top of the spool.
 I cut 6 needles using Crafty Mice SVG Collection and glue each of them together for a 3d look.  I threaded a piece of twine into it and inserted the end into my tag before tying a knot. After I added the note to the tag I glued the tag into place and loosely wrapped the twine around the pole adding hot glue here and there to hold it securely into place. Hot glue your needle into place as well.
I wanted the thimble to be the top of the bird house so I cut and assembled it as well and then glued to the top of the spool. The size for the thimble pieces are: Pattern W 7.879 x 2.439 H  Solid W 7.879 x 3.243 H. I added buttons and lace from my stash using hot glue to adhere them.
The last thing I did was make the scissors for the top of the spool. I used the scissors from Dress Shop SVG Kit and sized those at W 1.082 x 1.940 H . Cut three and glue one on top of the other for thickness. A tiny brad works well to hole the scissors together.  Don't brother trying to cut the top of the scissors as it is very difficult to work with. I used Musical Notes emboss folder just on the scissors handles and darkened it with a Basic Grey ink from Stampin Up. I used Silver Fox Smooch on the blades of the scissors, then took a small scrap of ribbon and put it through the one handle. I used a stick pin from my little yellow bicycle to stick it through the top of the thimble.
Add some batting and twine strings to the inside and your done.

Plant in the Spring

Spring is upon us and I have been in full bloom sporting the Rudolf look and scratching my eyes! Please excuse my absence from my blog.

Any hoo the idea for this project came as I thought about those of you that were still covered in snow, in particular I was thinking of my friend Linda. I wanted to make something that would cheer her up and bring her the much needed spring even if it was only paper. Here is my Spring Planter that I called Plant in the Spring I wasn't going to enter it in the contest but when I finished it I thought I was so pretty I would try. 

I knew I wanted to make a wood look planter so I used the cornfield owl box from Acorn Autumn SVG Kit. I use Silhouette Designer Addition and it has a knife feature I like to use a lot. I cut the Cornstalks off first using this feature but you can do the same by cutting the box at W.5.974 X 3.142 H. That is the finished height after you cut the stalks off so yours will be taller if your doing it with scissors after you cut it out with your machine. I also wanted a water trough for it so I cut another box but made it much shorter. I counted up one score line from the bottom and cut across with my knife, then adjusted the node on the tab for gluing by tilting it down like Mary does. This helps the sides to fit properly. The sizes for the water trough are W 5.823 x W 1.158  and W 3.605 x 1.292 H. I made accent pieces for the planter by making  squares to fit just a little smaller than the inside of the cut lines on the cornfield owl planter box. Glue the boxes together, then glue your trough onto the bottom of your planter. I used the wood grain paper from Echo Parks Jack and Jill Collection.

I set that aside and began work on the poles for the birdhouses. I used the dress form bottom from Dress Shop SVG Kit. I cut it at the size it imports and weighted the bottom with the decorative rocks from Dollar Tree. You can glue them in place using Ranger Glossy Accents. I glued mine to the top inside of the stand as well.  I cut two of the bottom stands and while you cannot fit the stand bottoms both into the box nicely they will fit. ( I had to kinda squish one a bit) The pole part of the stand is made stronger using some cardboard inserts from the glow necklaces I bought from there for my grandchildren.( my daughter saved them for me when she saw how neat they were.. what a good daughter) The last pole is made using just two of the pole parts of the dress form and gluing those to one of the cardboard inserts. If you made three each of the two poles you could probably have the strength you would need. I have a shelf in my closet that has just that kind of thing in it. Inserts from foil toilet paper rolls and the like. Saving and reusing these is a nice way to recycle and helps the projects your making to be strong.
Wow how did I get down that rabbit hole as my pastor would say? Anyhoo, hot glue the stands and the extra pole to the inside of your planter box. I added extra hot glue and more of the rocks for weight as well. Cover the bottom with shredded paper. I used the paper from my daughters Julep boxes, yep recycled again, hey its free so I use it!
Cut and glue three extra stands to glue your bird houses on. Glue those to the top of your poles.

I made the birdhouses from Spring Birdhouses SVG Kit. These are the sizes of the tall and short houses I used. Bring all your pieces of the houses onto the mat and group them then size them to: W 10.361 x 7.011 H Tall Houses W 10.015 x 6.342 H Short Houses.  I added the score lines, holes for the boxes, and the house_front_bottom before I cut them.
 Using the circle cut out Mary made for the house_front_top as my guide I un-grouped the house_front_top and released compound path to find out what the size of the circle was then duplicated it for the box and the house_front_bottom piece and the box. Lay your house_front_bottom and house_front_top onto the box on your virtual mat to find the place your hole needs to be for the box. ( it helps to make some of these pieces a different color so you can see them better) once you have the hole lined up where you want it move your top piece out of the way and Select the box and the circles then modify and subtract so you have a cut out for the bird houses and house_front_bottom.  The size of the hole I made for the bird rest is W 0.140 x0.140 H. Group your score lines to your box before moving it. I used a wooden skewer for the bird rests glued into place. You can use hot glue or the Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.
 Cut the railing from the Seaside SVG Kit sized at W 8.207 x 1.277 H, this can be found in the lighthouse file. I used Tim Holtz Iced Spruce ink to distress the fence, stand and poles for the birdhouses before gluing the railing and houses into place. I added a bit of Spanish moss to my bird houses for looks.
The "vines" are thinly cut pieces of card stock or you can use the vines from Pick a Pumpkin SVG Kit either will work. If you use the vines from Pick a Pumpkin SVG Kit you will have to make them thinner. I hot glued one end of a vine to the bottom of the pole and wrapped it loosely around the poles adding touches of hot glue where I wanted it to stay. I also cut my ends at an angle to give it a more finished look.
The flowers are from Mom's Garden Gifts SVG Kit. The pansies are sized at W 2.153 x 5.966 H. I Googled pansies to get different colors as I am not a gardener. As I looked at the photos I noticed the leaves and used 3d Flowers SVG Kit to make the leaves. I sized the leaves at W 1.633 x 3.880 H. Each leaf was inked with Stampin up Old Olive and then I used G 99 Olive Copic Marker to make the vanes on the leaves.  The blossoms are from the Gift box file in this same kit. They are sized at W 2.558 x 3.482 H. I used tweezers to glue them together and hot glued them into place. Do yourself a huge favor and add the pearl centers before you hot glue them into place. I can't tell you how many fell into the shredded paper in the planter. sheesh!
 I also drew the lines for the pansies on using Copic Marker RV69 and Stampin Up Write Wisteria Wonder. I don't own a purple Copic Marker yet. Yellow brads are the centers of my Pansies. The leaves for the pansies and the pansies themselves were curled using my McGill Flower shaping tools. I hot glued the leaves in at angles and then used a thin vine bent at each end and hot glued to the center of the leaves to lift my pansies a bit as though they were really growing.
The butterfly is from Breezy Meadow Butterflies SVG Collection. I don't have the exact size but it measures about 1 3/4 inches long. My suggestion is cut a few at different sizes to see what you like best. You can put more than one that would be cute too! I backed the butterfly with light blue vellum and used my smooch that looks like nail polish bottles to add color to the butterfly body, then used a clear Wink of Stella pen to add sparkle to the body. the inteni is a thin strip of black paper folded and glued to the underside of the body. I spritzed the whole thing with Perfect Pearls mixed with water.

No Bunny Butts about it!

Hey Y'all,

I hope your having a fantastic day! I have been seeing these bunny butts all over the internet made on cards and cookies cupcakes and the like. Adorable is all I can say. Whoever came up with the idea good for you! I had to do my own spin on it using one of Mary's files of course, plus I wanted to make something special for my grandsons that are close to me. The other two are spread afar from me and mailing a goodie is just not feasible, so this is what I came up with and I hope you like it.

Using the Strawberry from Sweets For My Sweet SVG Kit I sized the strawberry down. Here are the sizes with the file names: bottom W 4.275 x 4.551 H, bottom_panels.svg W 4.275 x 5.300 H, lid.svg W 5.656 x 2.794 H, lid_panels.svg 6.131 x 2.325 H. You are welcome to make the panels  a bit shorter if you wish this makes it a little less bulky but still works. Make the strawberry as you would normally adding your panels, turn the strawberry upside down and add a grass border if you have a notion. I do not have the size of the grass border it was cut paper I had in my stash. The file is one of Mary's files and is from Easter Morning Egg Hunt SVG Kit. You will have to size it down quite a bit. I curled it slightly with a wooden dowel to help it glue well around the egg. Another way would be to pinch it slightly at the score lines of the strawberry top.

The feet are from Bunny Hop SVG Kit. You will have to separate the pink feet from the pink.svg file and the same for the white feet from bunny1.svg file in Bunny Hop SVG Kit. The sizes of the pink feet are W 2.116 x 1.618 H. The white feet are W 1.950 x 1.750 H. Glue the pink feet to the white feet or in my case, Chocolate Bunny. ( a joke between my 11 yr old grandson and I) Glue the feet angled as you have seen in the photos onto the bottom of the upside down Strawberry. Glue a pink 1/2 inch pom to the top and your ready to fill with a treat.

I am going to make 3 more as that is how many grandsons I have here close the other two are grandsons as well. I know they will love that grandma was thinking of them. Bunny Come a Callin'

Hey Y'all,

I have been out of commission with my machine for a while now. I needed a new cutting strip and had to wait for it to come to cut paper again. No sense cutting something that won't cut all the way through the paper right? Anyhoo, I was online and saw a darling bunny glass where the cheeks  and the teeth are on the side of the cup and this idea popped into my head. I was dying to get it made before Easter. So here it is and it is so simple and quick you might have time to whip up a few for that surprise invite to someones house for Easter Dinner.

 I used the mason jar snowman head to make this cutie from Santa's Sweets SVG Kit.
Open the white_svg, release compound path and un-group the white_svg. Delete the slit for the nose. Now regroup, cut and assemble as you normally would. Don't put the hat on yet. Using the ears from Bunny Hop SVG Kit size the ears to W 2.600 x 3.432 H.  I only used one set of them so it would be easier to curl them a bit with the dowel. I used just the ears but it would look cute with feet or even the arms as well.  Size the inside of the ears to W 1.399 x 1.938 H. Glue the inside of the ear in place.  Cut the flaps on the white outside of the ears off with scissors. You will not need them as I glued the ears to the brim of the hat. Use a pencil or a wooden dowel to slightly curve the ears down. Finish assembling the hat as Mary instructs. I added Tim Holtz Vintage Papers ink to the edges for a weathered look. I used several paper flowers from my stash and a My Minds Eye Brad for the center.

The teeth are made using a rectangle. I double clicked on it and added an extra node in the center bottom, bring that node up to the center of the rectangle then add and extra node on either side of your center node to make it square. Add a couple of extra nodes at the bottom of each tooth so the teeth are square at the bottom as well. Glue your teeth to the top of the scoreline for the lip of the jar. Hot glue two 1 inch pom balls over the teeth and to make the cheeks. I added pearlescent chalk for some rosy cheeks. Then put a glittered Doodlebug enamel dot for the nose. The eyes are black enamel dots, then I used my Sakura Jelly roll black pen to draw on eyelashes and some eyebrows.

The ribbon is something I had in my stash but I believe it is from Stampin up. I found that glittery Rhinestone at Joann's on a shopping trip with my girlfriend.  We split the pack so I cannot tell you what the brand name was. Tie the ribbon and use a 3d zots to adhere the bow to the jar. Don't forget to do the same on the back with a 1 inch or lager pom for your tail. Fill the jar with a goodie and your done!

The perfect quick gift to take to your hostess. I hope you like this little guy, or make it a girl with more flowers and feathers or whatever you like. Mary has a free bow on the freebies page that would look darling on this jar, or use the one in Bunny Hop SVG Kit. There are also many 3d flowers from Mary's wonderful files you could use as well. Easter Parade

Hey Y'all,

It is beautiful here today and very much spring! Our first tortoise got up today, one of our "little" ones. I am very much into spring and the colors of spring because of all this beautiful weather. I apologize to my friends who are still only seeing a lot of "white stuff". With Easter coming soon I am in full swing of playing with Easter ideas. While working on another recent project this idea came to mind so without further ado I bring to you Easter Parade!

 We are going to start with the bunny first as all your changing is sizes  with this one. Start with the snowman from Christmas Open House SVG Kit. Cut the snowman  body.svg at W 8.986 x 7.872 H. Cut the panels bottom.svg at W 4.895 x 4.946 H. Cut the panels_top.svg at W 4.198 x 3.260 H. Cut the hat at W 6.148 x 4.672 H. Assemble the body of the "bunny" and add your panels.

These are the measurements of the ears feet and paws of the bunny. They are from Bunny Hop SVG Kit. You will want to assemble the ears and get them ready to glue onto the side of the hat before you glue the brim into place.  Cut the pink.svg (inside ears,feet and nose) at W 2.324 x 3.133 H. The ears are cut at W 3.180 x 1.985 H. The feet are cut at W 2.130 x 1.911 H. The front paws are cut at w 2.174 x 1.988. These are refered  to in the file as bunny1.svg. You will have to separate the ears paws and feet from the bunny1.svg  to cut them separately.

Glue the side of the hat together and then decide where you want your ears to pop up. I put mine at opposite ends about 4 panels apart. Slide the brim over the ends of the hat and glue them into place, when you reach the part with the ears you will have to hold it a bit longer. Then Glue the top of the hat on. Add the ribbon to your hat first then add your other embellishments.  I added flowers from my "extras" box but any of the small flowers from Mary's files will work.  Search your printed PDF's for a good flower you want to use. The butterfly is from Garden Nouveau SVG Kit and is butterfly_top.svg. I do not have the exact size for this as it was in the box of extras I keep as well. A rough estimate of the size is about 1 inch. I cut several of these at a time as they are tough to cut that small. Slow the speed down that helps quite a bit. I wanted to really make this a very embellished hat so I added the center pieces for wedding flowers and feathers as well.  Glue your paws on and your ready to fill your bunny with a yummy treat.

For the Chick you will be using the same measurements for the body and panels but you will be taking the chick's pop out wings idea from the one piece chick box Mary made in Egg Hunt SVG Kit. I use a Silhouette Cameo so I will be explaining how to do this using this format but if your familiar with your program you should be able to do it in your program as well.  Ungroup the body.svg and  release compound path, select the two lines for the wings and group them. Make a duplicate and flip it to mirror the other lines.  Copy and paste them onto one body panel each for your chick. (hint) the small lines for the wings are the front part of the wing. Group them to your panels and cut your panels as you would. Glue them into place and cut the beak at the size it imports. I glued mine a bit crooked just for character. The hat was made a bit taller to look more like a top hat. ungroup and release compound path on the hat center. Then uncheck the lock aspect ratio and make it a bit taller mine is W 6.148 x 1.762 H. I had to duplicate the last row of score lines for the sides of the hat and move the bottom ones down. Line them up and then group them all together before you cut your hat. Assemble normally.

I added a ribbon around the hat and used one of those nifty little buckles I got from the Close to My Heart stuff I was blessed with. I hot glued the ribbon in place and added a bit of fluff from one of the feathers I cut for the bunny. I went on YouTube and learned how to tie an ascot for the front. I used ribbon from my stash for that and added a pearl  for the front. I used my Stampin Up itty bitty flower punch to make the flower for his "lapel" and snipped the sides a bit to allow the flower to bend in more. The feet are from Autumn Cuddly Friends SVG Collection . They are sized at W1.263 x 1.032 H. I curved them a bit so they looked more natural.

Bunny Balloon Ride

Afternoon all!
I hope your enjoying this lovely day and that your craftin' your hearts out!
I know as soon as I finish here I will be starting on a new idea I have with the newest kit from SVG Cuts called Feeling Lucky SVG Kit.

Ever wondered how the Easter bunny hides his eggs and gets away before you ever see him? Well here is perhaps one way with my Bunny Balloon Ride! I hope you enjoy it.

I made the hot air balloon from High Skies SVG Kit at the size it imports and used the bunny ears from Bunny Hop SVG Kit sized at W 4.604 x 2.872 H.  Inside of ear or pink.svg is sized at W 5.231 x 2.386 H. You will not need the feet so you can just delete them. Assemble the two halves of the balloon and glue the assembled ear to the second flap down from the top. Glue the other ear on the same flap on the opposite side. Make sure you flip your ear so you don't have one ear on backwards. Glue the two halves together as you would normally. Add your accent pieces to the balloon. I drew dash lines on mine after they were on the balloon but it might be easier to do that before you adhere them to the balloon. I added small black enamel dots to the front and drew on a mouth and eyelashes. I glued the nose into place and used Ranger white accents to add white dots to the eyes and big teeth for the front. Allow the white accents to dry all the way before you move on as it does dent if you don't. I cut the bow tie as an afterthought at W 3.844 x 1.607 H. Glue that to the front of the balloon at the bottom.  I added small eyelets and threaded Twinery Twine for the ropes on the balloon to the basket.

The basket is made using the basket from . Bring all the pieces of the basket onto your mat and size at W. 9.950 x 7.950. Assemble the basket as Mary instructs in the video being careful not to tear your rods. At this size the rods will be thin. I added small eyelets to the sides using a 3/16 punch to make the holes. The Crop-a-dile would not fit to punch the holes. It does work fine for attaching the eyelets however. Cut and assemble the other set of ears at W 3.322 x 1.717 H.  The inside of the ears are cut at w.085 x H 0.984. Glue the small ears to the inside of the basket. I added tiny enamel dots and then drew on eyelashes. This is to give the illusion that the bunny is hiding a bit. I hot glued a 1/2 inch white pom pom to the back of the basket.

To make the pennants I used Festive Easter Pennants SVG Kit and sized the pennants at W.1.894 x 1.808 H. Because I wanted to use twine for the pennants and it was a bit thick I clipped the circles on each end with scissors. Put the clipped circles around your twine and then add a bit of either scotch quick dry adhesive or hot glue to hold it into place. I added stitch lines to the pennants and wrote Hoppy Easter Y'all with a black saukura pen. 

That is all there is to this little cutie, add some Easter grass to the basket and some jelly beans and your all set. There is so much you could do to change this like add ribbons hanging down or change the pennants to eggs, make the balloon a chick. Whatever you do I know it will be cute and loved. Vintage Golf Pants and Hat Gift Boxes

I hope your having a great day and getting lots of crafting or family time today!
We live about 50 miles from Palm Springs and every year they have what used to be called the Bob Hope Classic. It is just one of the many  golf tournaments  that area has every year. My father in law used to work it when he was able. As Mark gets older his tastes in sports have changed, in that he watches a lot more golf than he used to. With all the golf on the TV lately and St Patrick's Day coming I have been thinking about how the Scottish as I understand it, invented golf. All of that over the pond way of thinking and the wonderful paper from Doodlebug just got my creative ideas flowing. So this is my old time Golf pants (which seem to be making a come back) and hat. I think it looks very cool but what do I know?

 I used the cauldron from Party On Elm Street SVG Kit to make the pants, now I know your thinking what in the world? Really the only altering you will do will be with your scissors and the way you glue it. Cut the cauldron out at the size it imports. Glue the each half together as you would normally. Glue the triangular pieces into place to cover the open areas. Glue the bottom portion of each "leg" two flaps up to close the area and make it look like a pant leg.  Leave the top open on both "pant leg pieces. Start with the back and glue the two top flaps to the inside of one leg. The flaps are valley folds glued to the inside of the one pant leg. The front of the pant flaps are then glued to each other in the inside. Refer to the photo for help.

Glue the top flaps down as you would and then glue an 6 sided octagon sized at W 1.750 x H 1.652  to the ends of the pant legs. The inside of the pant legs are cut straight across at the top as you will not need the whole accent piece. I hot glued a ribbon into place sliding the buckle on first. The buckle is easy peasy to create.
Make a larger rounded square  and a slightly smaller one. Center the smaller one inside the larger one and make a compound path, then make a skinny rounded rectangle and place in the center of the compound path you just made, weld it into place.  For SCAL or ecal users use the shapes menu to make the same buckle or Mary has several in different kits you could use as well this is for everyone including the cricut peeps. You would just need to size it down to W 0.668 x H 0.559 or close to that to make it look right for the pants. I will list the kits that have buckles in them along with links at the bottom of this post.

The Golf Clubs are the pool stick from The Green Room SVG Kit and the head of the Clubs are from Fun and Games SVG Kit. Cut the Pool cue W 5.290 x H 1.832.  Make the Golf Club heads at the size the import. Assemble the golf club heads as you normally would. To make the Metallic outer edge of the golf clubs I used Versa Mark on the paper straight pad to paper then added the silver embossing powder and heated it with my heat gun. For the lines on the putter I heat embossed the silver part twice then
while the powder was still warm I used a small stylus to make the lines. I think you could use just about anything that was mildly sharp to do that, finish assembling those and set aside. Now take your scored and pre-folded pool cue and add glue to the narrow top end inside. Have a length of Washi Tape cut and ready to wrap around the end of the pool cue. set the golf club ends into the glue and wrap the washi tape around the end. Finish gluing the side of the golf club together. Those will be set inside the pants just for looks.  I would have added "grip washi tape to the ends of the golf clubs but I do not have any brown washi tape. Because the pants are deep I added kraft color shredded paper first then added the golf clubs. I think you could put candy in them or a golf pass for the day or golf balls and T's. This could be a birthday, anniversary, St Patrick's Day or Father's Day gift.

To make the golf hat you only need to make the baseball hat and trim the brim to a narrower visor. To Trim the visor I used my scissors. I used the pieces for the hat to make my accent pieces. Make the hat pieces longer. The size for those pieces are W 3.044 x H 5.250. Using your scissors again just trim off the flaps for gluing.  I curl my pieces slightly with a pencil before I glue into place.  Glue the top into place first then glue the bottom. You will have to push down a bit to give it more of the look of the vintage golf hat. When you do this will help you see where it may need to be glued down a bit more to hold it into place. I added the white dash lines after putting those into place. The pom is made using Twine I had from the Twinery. The colors will be listed below in the supplies list. I wrapped them around a 2 1/4 inch wide piece of cardboard about 12 times. I would have done it more to make it thicker but I ran out of twine. That will be another purchase I will need to make and I have found I prefer Trendy Twine. The colors are better to me and the twine is a bit thicker. Slide a 6 inch long price of twine under the loops on the cardboard and tie a knot. Carefully slide the twine off and tie the remainder around the other loops as well. Tie it in a knot several times to make it tight. I cut my loops and using my cuttlebee scissors I used the tip to unravel the threads. I put the two ends of the twine through the small hole in the top and put a dap of hot glue on the inside top then wrapped the ends into a circle to hold it all into place and look a little neater.
